Intro to Socialism
Sat, September 23 at 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Our Introduction to Socialism course returns with its second session. You absolutely do not need to have attended the first session – we have designed each session to be independent.
Intro to Democratic Socialism
The History, Part 1 – Socialists, Utopian and Scientific
Charles Fourier theorizes about the good society. Robert Owen tries to create it in America.
The growing proletariat builds a labor movement. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels see them as the basis of a future socialist society. The socialists and the anarchists debate in the International Workingmen’s Association (the First International). The Paris Commune creates a proto-socialist society – briefly. The International moves to America.
