Safety Over Surveillance Redwood City – Say No to ALPRs and Mass Surveillance!
Mon, October 5 at 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
On Monday, October 5, Redwood City Council will discuss automated license plate readers (ALPRs). These weapons of mass surveillance create a dragnet that track everyone’s movements regardless of whether you are involved in a crime or not. After a San Mateo County grand jury enumerated the many issues with this dangerous technology, cities must submit a formal response. Join SV-DSA and Safety Over Surveillance Redwood City as we mobilize once again to tell elected officials in Redwood City: NO to ALPRs, NO to mass surveillance, NO to profit driven dystopian tools.
You can participate in person at Redwood City Council Chambers at 1017 Middlefield Road or virtually by Zoom at https://redwoodcity.zoom.us/j/99481825639. The meeting starts at 6 PM and the relevant agenda item is 8.A https://meetings.redwoodcity.org/AgendaOnline/Meetings/ViewMeeting?id=2684&doctype=1.
