DSA National Convention occurs every two years and is the highest decision making body in our organization. Delegates vote on resolutions to set the organizing goals and tactics for the next two years. Convention is also where the election of the National Political Committee, who stewards the organization between Conventions, occurs. This year, the National Convention will be held from August 8-10 in Chicago.
SV-DSA will hold an election for member delegates beginning shortly after our May chapter meeting on the 24th. But to vote on delegates, we need candidates who are willing to run! This meeting is designed to support members considering running for delegate to the National Convention. Come with any questions you may have. New members are strongly encouraged to contest for a delegate position – our delegation is stronger when it represents the full breadth of membership experience.
Details about the Delegate election and national convention are here (link to Google Drive accessible to Members only). The Delegate Nomination form can be accessed here.
The meeting will take place at JTown Pizza at 625 N 6th Street in San Jose at 6 pm. We will talk about the National Convention, the roles of delegates, and then continue with a short officer business meeting.
