DESCRIPTION:Socialist electoral work has had a big boost with the victory of Zohran Mamdani in the NYC mayoral primary! Comrade Zohran was the keynote speaker at our National Convention in 2023 and now is poised to govern the largest city in the US. His victory came through hard work of working class people like us\, and we will have to build up our capabilities here if we want to achieve something similar! \nThe Electoral working group will have a meeting on Wednesday July 2 at 6:30 on Zoom. We will debrief from our very successful Brew & Chew ranked choice voting event\, have a discussion about past efforts from the group\, and lay out expectations for co-chairs. The meeting is open to all. DESCRIPTION:The electoral working group meets every other Wednesday at 6:30 PM on Zoom. Our major ongoing campaign is to advocate for the adoption of Ranked Choice Voting in County elections. We have a close out event for our Brew & Chew RCV social where winners in the election will be announced coming at the end of the month and will use some time to plan for that. SUMMARY:Brew & Chew Close Out Event
DESCRIPTION:Last month we opened ballots for our Brew & Chew Ranked Choice Voting social event at Strike Brewing in San Jose. We will be closing ballots and announcing the winners at Strike on Friday\, July 25! Come join us to socialize with comrades\, hear the election results\, and spread the word about ranked choice voting in our community. Ballots remain open until this final event\, so be sure to head to Strike Brewing and bring your friends in the interim to get higher turnout. There is also a ‘ballot box’ at Strike where you can share reasons why you support ranked choice voting. When we announce the winners\, we will randomly choose one of the contributors and they will be awarded a $100 gift card.
