San Jose Food Not Bombs
May 17 at 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
“A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Americans discard 40 percent of the food that is produced. In 2010 the United Nations reported that all of the one billion people who go hungry can be fed with wasted and discarded food every single day.
Our aim is to collect food either from grocery stores, farmers’ markets, and through donations to reduce food waste and meet the direct need of our community by preparing vegan meals that we share with the hungry.
Join the global network of over 1,000 Food Not Bombs chapters to inspire and encourage the public to participate in changing society and to focus our resources on solving problems like hunger, homelessness and poverty while seeking an end to war and the destruction of the environment.

We have modified our meal serve in response to COVID-19. Please bring vegan food items that can be be assembled into prepackaged lunches. Volunteers will assemble the lunches at the park and then pass them out as care packages.
If you are staying to assemble the lunches or serve the care packages, please wear a face mask and bring disposable gloves.
Requested items to bring: vegan sandwiches, bottled water, granola bars, fruits
Think softer foods (things like apples aren’t typically a good idea since many people being served have dental difficulties). You can also bring water if cooking food isn’t your thing.
Every 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month @ 2:00 p.m.
Anyone! You don’t have to be vegan to help out. 🙂
Organize care packages to distribute along with food. These packages would include stuff like: face masks, socks, underwear, deodorant, tooth brushes, feminine care products, phone chargers, batteries, etc.
